Soap is the name given to the salt formed as a result of the reaction of an acid and a base. In our case, the acid comes from olive oil. The base is sodium in caustic or potassium and calcium in ash… Both have a PH of 12 and above. Ash was also used in the laundry and cleaning of the cauldrons in the time of our grandfathers. It is harmful to touch both caustic and ash with bare hands.
Our decision as a result of our research; The important thing in the soap business is that this acid and base are used in the right proportions and there is no remaining in the final product !!! It doesn't matter if it's made with caustic or oak ash. If you cannot adjust the ratio correctly, these substances that will remain in the last soap will damage your skin.
Although the name oak ash evokes naturalness, the problems of making soap with this substance are as follows:
These basic substances in all ash are not at the same rate. They vary by 55-75%, difficult to measure. In caustic it is more measurable. The rate of caustic we use is between 12.7%-13.2%. Therefore, it is much more difficult to adjust the amount of acid/base when making soap with oak ash.
It is necessary to use 25 kg of oak ash to make 100 kg of soap, and to obtain 25 kg of ash, it is necessary to use 100 kg of wood. In this sense, it is not sustainable, it is harmful to nature.
What is in the ash is also important. If you throw plastic into the fire while creating the ash, it is also included in this ash.
In summary; The final product must not contain any basic substances from caustic or oak ash. Our soap consists of 98% olive oil, 2% caustic and, if used, other essential natural oils. In our soaps, caustic does not remain in the last product, and it is certified that it does not. The olive oil used is only olive oil.
For these reasons, it does not harm even our most sensitive organ, our tongue. Even if you swallow it, there is no harm. It is very comfortable to use even on the skin of babies.
