OBESITY AND OLIVE OIL

Insulin allows the glucose (sugar) in the blood to enter the cells that need it after the glusides (blood sugar index) are digested and to be stored in the liver and muscles as glycogen. But under the influence of insulin, excess glucose turns into fat.
Many studies have revealed that olive oil has an indirect positive effect on obesity. Oleic acid lowers blood sugar, thereby reducing excess insulin, regulating sensitivity to insulin. Olive oil is also beneficial in reducing the disorders in the metabolism of overweight people. Frank Sacks of Harvard University's School of Public Health:
"A diet rich in olive oil is more effective at controlling and treating obesity than a low-fat diet. It also results in longer-term weight loss and is easier to maintain," she says.
In the study conducted by Professor Kim Knoops from Wageningen University, it was stated that obese subjects also lost weight significantly, their blood pressure returned to normal, and their sugar, cholesterol and triglyceride ratios improved thanks to the Mediterranean type diet.
The results of the study, which was conducted on 2339 physically active people in 11 European countries for 10 years, in good health, non-smoker, low alcohol consumption, were published in the Journal of the American Medical Association in the USA. In the study led by Professor Kim Knoops of Wageningen University, the subjects were fed the "Mediterranean Diet" consisting of fruits, vegetables, olive oil and fish. It was stated that the subjects, 180 of whom were obese, lost weight significantly in two years, their blood pressure returned to normal, their sugar, cholesterol and triglyceride ratios improved, and their good cholesterol ratios increased thanks to the Mediterranean type diet.
